Shropshire-based Salop Leisure has pledged to continue improving customer service standards after being voted the large touring caravan dealership of the year by the Swift Group.

The company, which has sales centres in Shrewsbury, Machynlleth and Stourport-on-Severn, collected the award last week but has no plans to rest on its laurels.

Marking the end of the second year of Swift’s Approved Dealer Programme, launched in September 2017, the annual awards recognise the accomplishments delivered by dealers. The programme is built around eight customer-centric key performance indicators which are monitored throughout the year.

“We are delighted to win this award which is a great accolade to everyone employed in the business and recognises all the hard work, training and investment put into the company,” said Mark Bebb, Salop Leisure’s managing director.

”We feel we still have a long way to go to arrive at point where we need to be. We must demand better service standards from our supply chain and continue to invest in servicing the needs of our customers at times that suit them.”

The award comes as Salop Leisure invests in its after sales department, with former Mercedes dealership principal Dave Buxton joining to help lead customer service improvement.

“We feel a need for continued investment in the department to underpin the traditional values of the company,” added Mr Bebb.  “We are the only dealership in the country that is open seven days a week with service and reception teams.”

He said the company employs more than 20 staff in the service department, five of whom work at weekends when it’s more convenient for customers to have their caravans serviced or repaired.
